Description
Enjoy the best views of Amsterdam on a semi-open boat
Most canal boats in Amsterdam are closed in, which is great on cold and wet days but when it is sunny and warm, you’ll want an open view of the city around you. Our regular boats can open their windows and have glass roofs for better views, but the LOVERS Semi-Open Boat Cruise in Amsterdam has no windows at all and a retractable see-through roof for the best views of the city.
Semi-open boats are slightly smaller than classic canal cruise boats, which means that they can enter smaller canals and take you to different places in the city. That however does not mean that you will miss out on the main canals of the city that are part of the UNESCO World Heritage listed canal belt of Amsterdam. As each cruise is different, we can’t guarantee what you will see but examples of sights are the Red Light District, the Anne Frank House, and the Skinny Bridge.
LOVERS’ Semi-Open Boat is perfect on a sunny day
Not only will you have excellent views of the city on this canal cruise, you can also enjoy the sounds of the city. The boats are fully electric and silent, so that your tour of the city does not include any engine noise. It also comes with an audio guide in 19 languages, which is filled with fun facts and is GPS guided so that it tells you about the area of Amsterdam that you are in.
Sometimes the weather in the Netherlands can be unpredictable, so if it does rain the retractable roof will be closed but the sides of the boat stay open. If the rain gets too bad before the cruise starts, you may be switched to a regular canal boat for your comfort. Of course, when it is warm and sunny and you are on the semi-open boat we highly recommend wearing sunscreen, as the sun can be extra strong while you are on the water.

We had a lovely tour of the city, with audio guide and the captain chiming in on occasion. You get to enjoy the canals and some of the highlights around them. It's a quick tour, just an hour, but very enjoyable. Also, if it's cold, you'll be happy it's not much longer, and also that the boat isn't fully open!
I really enjoyed this 1 hour boat ride. It was a bit confusing to find the boat (as it was not next to their big sign where some of their other boats take off from) but I just asked at the kiosk and they pointed me in the right direction. The audio was provided via a recording that you plugged free, complementary headphones into and was in a range of different language options. The boat has windows and panels, so sometimes more difficult to take photos from, but it was really relaxing to float down the canals and learn a bit of Amsterdam history. There are other boats that have drinks etc on them - this is not one, but that didn’t impact the enjoyment of this tour at all. Would recommend to anyone who’s looking to see Amsterdam from the canals.
Lovely canal cruise in partly open boat. Got quite hot at times on a sunny day. Provided earphones for guided tour. Captain very friendly.
This was a decent tour with friendly driver/guide and audiotrack equipment for your language available. We saw a lot of Amsterdam via this tour and got to see places that we probably would not have seen I.e where the Mayor of Amsterdam lives, etc
We booked at the lovers office near the Anne Frank house at a cost of £16 each. Boarded easily, no queue, guide was knowledgable and friendly and the audio guide was helpful too.
