Amsterdam Light Festival cruise

Amsterdam Light Festival cruiseIt was beautiful! All those lights of the Amsterdam Light Festival, but also the rest of the city was beautifully lit. Besides that, our captain was very nice, he told good stories and gave the whole boat time to take pictures!!! Thanks!!!!

We did the Festival of Lights cruise. Although it was indicated that the explanations of the lights in the audio guide were in Dutch and English, the rest of the explanations of the canals etc. were also in other languages, so perfect. A highly recommended way to see Amsterdam and all the lights of the Festival. Thank you very much!

We had a pleasant and relaxing 1hr tour. We got headphones to tell us a bit about Amsterdam and its history (and the festival of lights). The boat was comfy and warm... we enjoyed the trip and the staff were friendly.

Took cruise at night in January during the Amsterdam Light Festival. Nice cruise, beautiful light displays.

A fantastic experience in the Amsterdam light festival, special tours via boat (Lovers), with a very friendly staff giving a nice welcome. I fully recommend this tour.

First, taking a canal cruise when you visit Amsterdam is a must. The perspective you get of the city is unique, interesting and beautiful. Second, Lovers cruise line is the best. The boats are easier to access, the restroom is nicer and the service is very good. We took the cruise to see the Light Festival just as it was getting dark. It felt like the best of both worlds because we heard the regular commentary and the narrative about the light art installations.

Couples

My fiancé and I prebooked tickets for the light festival canal cruise. We really enjoyed this experience and felt that it was worth the money but we’d advise booking tickets in advance to save any disappointment. Leidseplein is the tram stop close by and the canal stop is just the other side of the theatre. The cruise was very clean and staff were friendly. We’d highly recommend going during January and booking the light festival cruise as the audio guided tour (via provided headphones) explains the light festival entries, artists & reason for piece as you go past them on the cruise. In between seeing the entries, the audio guides you through some history, facts and architecture of Amsterdam as you pass the relating locations/buildings, which was very interesting.

We left Central station dock with headphones and blankets for a wonderful night canal cruise to see the excellent lights festival in Amsterdam. Friendly bilingual driver too. Highly recommend.

Took the tour this evening to see the Light Festival. Would recommend doing the night tour anytime as you get to have a good look inside these grand houses, some of which have some awesome interiors you just wouldn’t see during the day. The light festival added to the tour, along with the Christmas lights everywhere. Would recommend getting to tour early to get a window seat, and there was just enough information for our liking.

We decided to do the cruise in the evening as the light festival was in action. It was a great experience to see Amsterdam from the water and to look at the artwork - the Christmas lights on pretty much every house we went past was a lovely sight too! We were in an enclosed boat so it was nice and warm despite it being 5C outside so we were very comfortable and had a very enjoyable ride. The boat does get crowded quite quickly so I would recommend you arrive more than 10 minutes before your timeslot to get a good seat (forward facing is best). I would love to do the cruise in the daytime as well so if I come back I will definitely be booking again!
