Semi-open boat cruise

Semi open boat cruiseThe canal cruise is quintessential activity in clear Amsterdam weather, everything was planned well for Lovers, the canal cruise was leisurely and enjoyable.

This particular cruise started from near the Central Station - Stationsplein; it was a one hour cruise with a recorded narrative as you pass the various sights. The Capt. of this boat - Capt. Willem made the trip quite interesting with his humorous anecdotes. It is very useful if you put the canal cruise as the first thing in your sight-seeing itinerary since then you get an idea of all the interesting places that you could visit later on. It's a semi open boat, where part of the roof could be opened up if the weather is good.

Amazing captain, great sense of humor and the audio guide also provides cool information about the city. He made the boat ride pretty fun and entertaining 🖤 We loved the fact that the boat is 100% electric. Totally worth it.

We had a great time on the semi-open tour. The captain was funny, knowledgeable and we felt safe in his hands. Saw some of the wonderful sights of Amsterdam. Reasonable price for just over an hour's cruise too. Would recommend.

Booked this cruise on a semi open boat at one of the many ticket booths. The quay is opposite the station alongside the Tourist Information office. Leisurely pace and a great audio commentary. You appreciate how the city is arranged around the canals, the principal places to visit when you are back on land and how busy these waterways are.

The tour was very informative with earphones that you could choose your language. It took us round in a circle negotiating all the bridges and giving us lots of interesting facts about the houses and sites. It was an hour long cruise in a semi opened top boat.

We took the one hour semi-open boat cruise. This worked out very well for us as it was raining intermittently and we got good views but also managed to stay dry. The cruise takes you by some of the top sites and gives you a good overview of the city.

Luckily we had stunning weather for our one hour tour, the commentary was good and I found it easier with just one ear piece in so I could chat to my hubby. We were in the semi open boat and loved every minute. Enjoyed learning about the history and seeing the sights. Very enjoyable way to spend an hour.

Families

The boat is semi-open which is nice as you are going through the city to take photographs. The boat trip is a very gentle one as I am not a good traveller. Seats were comfortable and the journey was good. I would recommend this as soon as you arrive.

We went as a family and enjoyed the tour. The sun was a bit hot part of the time but with the semi open boat and constantly changing direction it wasn't bad. The one hour ride was about the right length for us. The audio tour is informative and interesting.

Solo

If you have only couple of hours to spend in a wonderful city that is Amsterdam, taking a boat tour is the best option for it. You will find many canal boat tour options all over Amsterdam. I chose 'Lovers canal cruise; and didn't regret it. The boats are semi-opened and have a GPS based audio guide in multiple languages. The staff was kind and the route taken by the boat was very scenic like all over Amsterdam.

I would strongly recommend everyone to do a canal cruise in Amsterdam, as it gives a whole different view of the city. Which of the many providers you shall take mainly depends on your personal preferences. Lovers is more entertaining than educational but I loved it! Captain Flip's fun! 😊
